Randomness

Well, Vienne didn't do horribly at school this first week, but she did cry some.  When I pick her up she's having fun and is doing well.  She's such a momma's girl and she knows that life can be easier at home, so it will take some adjusting.  Her teachers also say that she gets tired and nap time helps.
We've had to have dinner earlier this week.  Boy are the girls starving when they get home!  And in hopes that I can keep the snacks away a little I don't mind eating dinner earlier than our usual early, now at about 4:30.  So far it's working out and I really think it helps with the grumpies.
I took a new class at the gym yesterday that had some step and some weight/strength.  I'm sore today but I think I like that class.  Although, I've never taken a step class before and don't think I really like step.  But I do like the cardio and weights in one class.  It took me a long while to get the hang of the step sequences.  I sort of laughed my way through class trying to get the simple step up alternate kick slide over step down thingy.  And while I'm laughing at myself, miss fancy pants next to me is getting it while adding a twist and a turn and a few high kicks.  Show off.
Talk has already started here about Halloween costumes and how Summer is supposed to be ending soon.  It really doesn't here in South Texas for awhile longer.  I really felt like a doof last week when I bought two sweaters 'cause I won't be able to wear them for awhile.  Wishful thinking.  I do have lots of sessions to post, getting back into the swing of things first.

Mission Accomplished

Although not as planned.  Vienne made it to school today.  She seemed very excited and was up at 5:45 this morning ready to leave.  But I found out at pickup that she cried at lunch time.  We had a hard time last year at drop off for several weeks.  I was half expecting it to happen again, I just hope it doesn't last as long.
I was hoping that after dropping off both girls that I would be able to have a nice, carefree day with no children.  I was planning on going to the gym, then heading home for a few hours.  Well, Natalya woke up with an ear ache.  She's had a few this summer.  So I gave her some Motrin, sent her off to school, made an appt. with the pediatrician, came back to school to get her and took her to the doc, then brought her back to school.  No gym today, no carefree time at home.  Oh, well.  Maybe next time.

One Down

Natalya's first day of school was today.  I always say that I never worry about Natalya.  Every transition for her has been easy:  crib to bed, diaper to potty, home to school.  Everything excites her.  And school is no exception.  She loves it.  She has a sweet teacher, some friends from last school year in her class, a hamster in her classroom... Life's good.

Daddy, Vienne, and I walked her to her room this morning.  I think she was actually anxious for us to leave.

Another cool thing for Natalya is that she gets to ride the bus home two days a week.  She was all smiles when she got off.  We live on acreage so we're lucky in that the bus drops her off pretty much right in front of the house.  Vienne and I went out to wait at the end of the driveway with our water bottles and folding chairs.  The wait actually seemed like an eternity.
One more to go, Vienne starts tomorrow.  She had a hard time starting school last year.  I'm hoping that she's grown some and gives me an easier time this year.  She's actually very excited.  We'll see what happens.

I Wonder...

I wonder what she's thinking.

I wonder what she'll be.

I wonder what decisions she'll make

And will she always think of me.

Wonder at Stacy's today, it's Theme Thursday.

Vienne had her preschool open house yesterday.  We got to meet her teachers and see her new classroom.  And boy do they really mean business this year.  The room looks so much different then the preschool 3 year old classroom.  Her new room doesn't have carpet, there is a science center, there is so much more on the walls, lot of words, and it was much colder (OK, that might have just been for the heat.)  Her new teacher is new to the school and is as sweet as can be.  And it turns out that she was a ballerina in New York at one time.  Right up my little girl's alley.  I really do wonder all the time what the future holds for this one.  She certainly dances to a different drummer than Natalya.  Will it be harder?  Will she take it life easier?  Hmm... I'm not ready to find out.

Country Life

This post will probably interest no one except the other people that live in our neighborhood.  One of the things about living in the "country" is that you get the native creatures that come with it:  snakes, bugs, big bugs, scorpions, centipedes, and the other usual nuisances such as raccoons and armadillos.  Armadillos.  Never seen one in person except dead on the road.  Until tonight.  Armadillos are nuisances mostly because they dig up your landscaping looking for food.  Landscaping that you paid lots of money for and that the homeowners association makes you keep up with.  And boy can they dig.  And one armadillo can do lots of digging.  We have been lucky in that our armadillo has really only done minor work to our landscaping.  But Greg for some reason decided he wanted to try and catch it.  So he set out our trap, humane trap, baited it and waited.  One night, nothing.  Next night, nothing.  Well, this evening, even before dark, HE SAW IT.  In a process that involved a bucket, a snake catcher (What?  You don't have one?), and the DOG, they basically hunted the poor thing down.  And caught it.

Nine banded, Natalya counted.

He really is kinda cute.  And, yes, he is climbing the cage.

"Let me out.  Please."

This one just cracks me up.  The poor thing looks like it was imprisioned.  Rockey was a basket case and hunted in true Jack Russell fashion.  Greg did release the poor guy down by the river so if he ends up at your house, Angelia or Jen or Amy, sorry.  But we are now renting Rockey for armadillo services.  Email me for the price list.  OH, and I did forget to post our raccoon story so that will come tomorrow.  Aw, country life.
