Natalya's first day of school was today. I always say that I never worry about Natalya. Every transition for her has been easy: crib to bed, diaper to potty, home to school. Everything excites her. And school is no exception. She loves it. She has a sweet teacher, some friends from last school year in her class, a hamster in her classroom... Life's good.
Daddy, Vienne, and I walked her to her room this morning. I think she was actually anxious for us to leave.
Another cool thing for Natalya is that she gets to ride the bus home two days a week. She was all smiles when she got off. We live on acreage so we're lucky in that the bus drops her off pretty much right in front of the house. Vienne and I went out to wait at the end of the driveway with our water bottles and folding chairs. The wait actually seemed like an eternity.
One more to go, Vienne starts tomorrow. She had a hard time starting school last year. I'm hoping that she's grown some and gives me an easier time this year. She's actually very excited. We'll see what happens.

I love the picture with the bus in the distance. This is 4th year dropping kids off at school and I still cried when I got home.
so it is really that simple, eh? oh i hope the next two weeks go that easily for us! i am afraid mama is going to be a bit of a puddle.
so what are you gonna do with your free time tomorrow??
oh, yay for Natalya! What a big girl! I hope today goes just as well for you.
My boys both have loved school from the very start. No tears at our house!
What will you do with all your free time now?
I love the depth of field in the bottom shot, great pictures.
I am looking forward to my boys first day of school, I still have a few years to go yet.
My gosh, she looks so big!
Oh what a big day!
And am I lost in a regional translation? What does it mean to live in acreage? I love learning about other parts of the country, so do tell, dear Melody. Is it just that your house is far from the street? (Smart New Englander, here.)
Glad to hear her first day went well. She does look pretty excited! That's nice that the bus drops her off in front of the house. Growing up and living out in the country we got picked up and dropped off at our driveway. It sounds like things have changed a bit now.
Natalya sounds like such a confident & happy girl! way to go mom & dad!
my daughter wants sooooo badly to ride the bus! what happened to it being the fag-wagon? it is so cool now!
Firstly, how had I not realised that V is the image of her father????? That picture of him with N hit me in the face like a brickbat! So N must be more like you.....
Secondly, I love that lower shot. The sterotypical US school bus, the lush fields either side (wonderulf rural feel) and the little girl eagerly running to greet her sister after school. It's so atmospheric. I am so jealous of you living on acreage. Our place is across the road from natural bush but as it is a gorge it drops away severely and it's not that easy to wander through. I always wanted to live on a farm as a kid with a long drive down to the main road. Some friends of mine lived on a property near Broken Hill and it took 30min from their house to get to the front gate!!!!!
Oh I love that bus shot. It just shows how big your girls are getting. Wow...making me realize how fast it all goes!
