Happy Earth Day- Celebrate with a Giveaway

Although it's almost over now, I did want to do an eco friendly post in honor of the day.  I have been noticing a lot lately while out shopping that there are so much more things out there either made of recycled material or just made in a more eco friendly way.  So I thought I'd share some with you.  You'd be surprised at what is available these days.

  • Toothbrush and razors made from recycled yogurt cups.
  • Umbrella made from recycled bottles for the canopy and recycled aluminum for the handle.
  • And this amazes me 'cause it seems so obvious, but why not sooner- aluminum foil made from, hmm, recycled foil.
  • Recycled coffee tumbler.
  • Eco friendly iPhone case made from recycled bottles.
  • Eco friendly activewear.
  • Eco friendly, biodegradable, and recyclable disposable dinnerware.
  • Recycled binders and other office products.
  • And I think I might love this one the most 'cause of all of the little tubes of makeup around- eco friendly cosmetics.  The lipstick tubes are made from corn.  The boxes the lipsticks come in, plant them, they grow flowers.  Cargo brand.  Way cool.
  • Even your dog can be earth friendly with biodegradable, compostable poopie bags.
  • Eco friendly toy companies even exist.

Speaking of toys, I have one to give away.  This eco friendly indoor gardening kit is made from recycled milk jugs.  Planting with you children is a great way to talk about conservation, natural resources, plant growth, earth friendly practices, bugs, sun, water.  My girls love to plant and really love to see the flowers grow.  This will go to the a random commenter.  Tell me you'd like it and also tell us what eco friendly product you've seen out there.  I'll choose the winner on Sunday.  Or Monday.  ;-)

Viva Fiesta

It's Fiesta time here in the San Antonio area.  And that means there are tons of events going on in and around town.  Most of it is family friendly.  Some of it includes arts and crafts, some of it includes kings and queens, some of it includes sports, all of it includes a lot of culture and a lot of eating.  We headed downtown yesterday on what couldn't have been a more beautiful day.

We first stopped at Market Square to eat at one of our favorite SA restaurants...

...and of course to hear the mariachi play.

Then we took took the girls to a charreada, which is a Mexican rodeo.  For Fiesta, they also had mariachias and ballet folklorico dancers.  Of course, nothing beat watching the girls in their pretty dresses ride side saddle without falling.

Our lovelies at the beginning of our festivities.  Natalya had just eaten a yellow snow cone so her lips are orange.

And at the end.  Her thumb had just fallen out of her mouth.  We will try to make it downtown again before Fiesta is over next weekend.

Hmm, My Best Shot for this Monday... my girlies, 'cause they make me happy.

Rain Rain

We've been getting some rain here lately so we've got some nice flowers around the house.  We could easily have flowers around the house without the rain but our big problem here are the deer.  When we don't have rain they come to the house and eat from our yard.  I'm guessing they have enough out there so they've been leaving our stuff alone.

I did see the doc this week and hopefully will get better soon.  I was hoping for a miracle drug but I really knew it would be a process.  So we'll see.

Fiesta is starting now here in San Antonio.  If there's ever a time to visit SA, now's that time.  We look forward to it all year.

Easter  Wassup

Hope everyone had a super duper holiday weekend.  We celebrated with way too much candy and a bunny.  Our subdivision had a nice egg hunt on Saturday.  Natalya was less then excited to get into the picture with the rabbit this year but Vienne was still all over it.  This last one will be My Best Shot for this Monday because (sniff) I may not get it next (sniff) year.

I have a doctor's appointment this week so get my headaches in check.  Still have it.  I believe this is week 6.  I actually had to call a few doctors because amazingly they are all booked.  Our original doctor (which I haven't seen in years) couldn't get me in for weeks and wanted me to call every day in the morning to see if I could get a same day appointment.  Um, no.

And just a thank you to my dear friends.  The ones that I can call on at any moment for help.  We love you guys dearly and are glad that we have you in our lives.  Every one of you.
