Sweetness
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at 09:49PM I think we all as parents wish that our children wouldn't grow up so fast. We have to buy shoes way too often because what used to be tiny feet are now stinky big feet. We go through challenges and battles about what is appropriate at this age regarding movies, music, tv shows. We have discussions about setting limits and we try to convince our 4 going on 13 year old about why we make the decisions we make. I just want the girls to stay young, sweet, and naive. NAIVE.
Lately Natalya is just been growing way beyond her years. I am really not surpised because it's in her being. She is incredibly bright and very aware, and, well, I am just dumbfounded sometimes listening to her talk. Today she came home and started her homework as usual. As I get into the coming home chaos, she turns to me and says, "Momma, some kids at school say that 'ass' is a bad word." Off course, I tilt my head and look at her. Then I say, "Well, what do you think it means?" And she says, "Well, it's a part of 'class' and 'glass'." As my heart swells, I go to her and hug her and kiss her forhead and say, "I am so glad that it took you this long to have to hear this." I really would have wanted it to be longer but considering that other kids already knew, I'd say she did pretty well. I go on to tell her the various meanings and say that it's not appropriate in most situations. She is good with that.
It keeps running through my head and I wait for the next one to come up. I know, she would have learned it at some point but I sorta feel like those kids have taken away a part of her innocence. I can not protect her 100% of the time but I hope she always thinks of me during times like these. My baby, she's just growing up.
OK, in other sweetness fronts... I got to see my sweet friend Kristin today. She is a light and hugs with all her heart. I felt it today. Kristin is having her third baby and is one rockin' momma.

Kristin and her hub make beautiful children. Can't wait to meet number 3.
Tricks and Treats

The motliest crew ever. The costumes are so indicative of the girls' personalities. I tried to talk Vienne out of being a princess because she is a princess every day. In some way or another she dresses, pretends, plays with princess toys nonstop. I gave in telling myself that that was just her. Natalya on the other had decided she wanted to be a robot. So this what she and Daddy created (who by the way is dressed as her creater the Mad Scientist.) Natalya is very creative, analytically minded. I'm so glad it turned out this way this year. Oh, I do have to note that Natalya did have a hard time walking and may have reconsidered her decision a few times during the hunt. She may have to reconsider the design.
Happy Monday to ya!
I'll Melt With You
Monday, October 20, 2008 at 06:00AM It's so strange how come Monday I have a hard time remembering what we did over the weekend. Sometimes I have to think about it pretty hard. Oh, it's coming back to me. Friday night, we went to the club for smores! They offer it to the kiddos a couple of times a year and it's a hit every time.

Natalya with one of her BFFs from school. The sun was setting so everything was glowing orange.

Our cutie pie friend Barrett. I think his eyes say it all.

Another cutie pie friend Trevor. He doesn't have a smore in his his mouth but I'm guessing he had a few.

And then the V. Vienne started with the full smore. The next one came apart and she at it in pieces. Then she quickly realized that what she really wanted was the chocolate. So she ditched the smores and just ate chocolate from the bowl. None of these are really great shots but this will be My Best Shot.
Saturday was a very full day. We spent the majority of the day at Natalya's school for their annual fun run/country fair. Food, bouncey houses, games, snow cones. Can't ask for more than that. The school also had a silent auction with items that were donated. I didn't realize that I was bidding on so many items until we were lugging home 5 baskets that we apparently has won. That evening the girls got to have smores again as the neighbors across the street invited us over for saugages and smores by the fire. They played into the darkness and listened to the fire pit crackle. I could only see shadows of the kids playing kickball. It reminded me of when I was little, playing kickball and man hunt in the dark.
Sunday, we rested.
Natalya and I had a talk last night about friends. She realizes how lucky she is to have so many friends around to spend time with. It is nice knowing that the girls are growing up with so much love and friendship around them.
I have so many sessions to post. Someone kick me in the butt.
After the Day
Monday, September 29, 2008 at 06:36AM
The other night after dinner we went to the park. The weather has really been glorious here lately. We'll still be in shorts for awhile but it's so comfortable and even cool in the mornings. We walked the trail around the playground and hunted for treasures. Bottle caps, cool rocks, flowers. The girls ran, and laughed, and we played until dark.
(It's Monday, as always join the fun.)
In the End
Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 08:16AM We kick the dirt
in search of dreams
hoping to love just one more time
hoping to feel the wind in our hair
hoping to find our path
hoping that in the end of the day
love finds us
the wind finds us
our dreams find us
and then we are free.
Give lots of hugs today.
