Monday is Dandy

The dandelion pics are everywhere and there have been some really awesome ones.  I took some pics of some dandelions about a week ago, then saw what others had done, and I was not happy with the ones I took.  So, I tried again and came up with these.  I found that when photo-ing something so ordinary you kinda have to find a twist- shoot with a macro, add light, change perspectives, or have patience and wait for something extraordinary to happen.  Dandy.

I had a great Mother's Day that included lots of food, lots of love, lots of whining (well, would be a day without that), lots of gratitude.  My girls are truly the best beings ever and I couldn't have asked for two more special people to call my kiddos.  I'll be sad when the day comes that I don't get a handmade gift from them.

Happy Monday!

Baby Amelia- Newborn Photography Boerne, Texas

The sweet face of Baby Amelia just 13 days old.  She made me work really hard for this shot.

If you live in the area and have (or don't have) children in this school district I hope you are planning to attend The Boerne Education Foundation's annual fundraiser gala this Saturday.  Aside from it being just a great time it really is a huge fundraising event for the schools in our district.  I'm sure I will also be contributing to the BEF as I just can't resist the thrill of the win and a silent auction.  There are items like resort stays, gift certificates, and an auction for "Principal for a day"!  How fun would that be for a child.  Not only will I be there but I will be donating a photo session and a mounted print for the silent auction.  So come bid on a session with me and pick up a card for a special discount.

Seriously

Beautiful.  And I really don't think I'm just saying that as a biased mom.  Vienne and I spent a few hours at the mall today while Natalya was at horse camp.  We had Chinese food for lunch, we had ice cream, Kitty got a new outfit and sunglasses, and Vienne got her first manicure.  While we were at the store getting that cute headscarf, the gal at the store kept going on about how "striking" Vienne's beauty was.  She used the word "striking".  V gets it all the time really.  One day it will seriously go to her head.  Although I can't argue with it, I add to it all the time.

Boys- Family Photography, Boerne, Texas

Inside every hardened criminal beats the heart of a ten-year-old boy.  -Bart Simpson

These boys crack me up.  One day I'll get them to do something really wild and they'll be ALL over it.

Hope your weekend is full of mayhem and fun.  I'll want to hear all about it on Monday.

I Love...

...Photography.

I've been interested in photography for as long as I can remember.

Thinking back, I still remember the Kodak Disc Camera.  I hope there's someone else out there that remembers it too.  I can't be the oldest one here.

Before kids, I took a darkroom class.  I loved being able to watch the image appear right before my eyes.  I guess that's kind of the same gratification you get using a digital camera.  I'm one who usually has to load my pictures as soon as possible just to see what I got.

I'm still learning of course.  Would love to take a workshop soon.

It's always nice to be able to share my work.  Thanks to the awesome Tracey Clark of Best Shot Monday (and MANY other creative ventures) this photo of girls (they think they're famous now) got into Artful Blogging.  Tracey and the story of Best Shot Monday is in the current issue which is filled with tons of creative ideas and inspiration.  What is kinda cool also is that that photo above mine is by Megan of Mental Inventory, my Team Up Thursday partner.  So we were puttin' together diptychs before our Team Up collaboration.  I guess our photos were meant to be together.

I think this might be my new favorite quote.  Here's to a mud-lucious and puddle wonderful weekend.

(Oh, and linkin' the blog over at Blessed Moon today.  So fun so find new blogs and get inspired.)
