Baby Amelia- Newborn Photography Boerne, Texas

The sweet face of Baby Amelia just 13 days old.  She made me work really hard for this shot.

If you live in the area and have (or don't have) children in this school district I hope you are planning to attend The Boerne Education Foundation's annual fundraiser gala this Saturday.  Aside from it being just a great time it really is a huge fundraising event for the schools in our district.  I'm sure I will also be contributing to the BEF as I just can't resist the thrill of the win and a silent auction.  There are items like resort stays, gift certificates, and an auction for "Principal for a day"!  How fun would that be for a child.  Not only will I be there but I will be donating a photo session and a mounted print for the silent auction.  So come bid on a session with me and pick up a card for a special discount.

Welcome, Max- Maternity/Newborn Photography Boerne, TX

Dawn just had her third boy.

Baby Max was born yesterday on 9-9-09.  Didn't even know that date was significant until Dawn told me.  Congrats, Dawn and Shaun.  One more boy can't be much different than two boys.  Can it?

Baby Gage- Newborn Photography Boerne, TX

Baby Gage was about 1 1/2 weeks old here.  He was born a week early but turned out to be absolutely perfect.  Momma said that he was a great sleeper and hardly cried.  But Gage musta heard her say that and wanted to prove her wrong.  He hardly slept for five minutes while I was there.

Oops- It's Wednesday

I actually forgot that it's Wednesday even though regular Wednesday things did happen today.  No Whatever Wednesday today.  I'm actually way behind now on work so I can't spare that many minutes.  I'm trying to get as much editing done before the weekend.  But, I do have time to show you this picture.  This session is actually third on my list but I always have to come home and look at them.  I couldn't wait to see these especially.  Meet baby Gage.  He is the beautiful boy of the beautiful momma that I photographed a month ago.

Does anyone remember what it was like to be a first time mom?  The feeling of elation and thrill and anxiety all at the same time?  It's amazing.

Back to work.

Baby T

A little over a month ago I got to meet this little guy.  He was born a little early so he was just as tiny as a newborn.  Usually I prefer color images over black and white but for some reason I really love these images in black and white.

Can you see me in his eyes?

And one in color because I coudn't go all bw.

I do have a lesson to share with this session.  As with starting anything new you learn as you go and hopefully remember these lessons for the future.  Good lessons and bad lessons.  I usually shoot one session per memory disk.  I use it and put it aside.  When I have another session, I get a new disk out.  I also do not erase the disk until I have completely edited the session.  It may not be the best way or right way, but for now it works for me.  I also do not use a client session disk for personal pictures.  But in this one instance I did, hence my mistake.  I needed a disk fast and grabbed Baby T's disk thinking I would do it "just this once".  I put it in the camera and took a few pictures of Natalya's science fair project (she was observing mold growth- eww.)  Then I took the disk out and uploaded the pictures.  Here's where my mind went loopy.  Since in my mind I had used this disk for personal reasons, for that minute I thought this was my personal use disk.  I put it back in my camera.  And since I had just uploaded them, well, it was ok to delete.  Just as I hit the delete button, I realized my mistake.  But the split second was too late to cancel.  Images gone, the whole session.  Luckily I was reminded by a quick thinking friend (thanks, Mendy) about recovery and I remembered that my SanDisk Compact Flash came with a recovery disk.  All was not lost.  But the sinking feeling in my gut will hopefully serve as a reminder for next time.  And hopefully my lesson will help you, too.
