Baby T

A little over a month ago I got to meet this little guy. He was born a little early so he was just as tiny as a newborn. Usually I prefer color images over black and white but for some reason I really love these images in black and white.
Can you see me in his eyes?
And one in color because I coudn't go all bw.
I do have a lesson to share with this session. As with starting anything new you learn as you go and hopefully remember these lessons for the future. Good lessons and bad lessons. I usually shoot one session per memory disk. I use it and put it aside. When I have another session, I get a new disk out. I also do not erase the disk until I have completely edited the session. It may not be the best way or right way, but for now it works for me. I also do not use a client session disk for personal pictures. But in this one instance I did, hence my mistake. I needed a disk fast and grabbed Baby T's disk thinking I would do it "just this once". I put it in the camera and took a few pictures of Natalya's science fair project (she was observing mold growth- eww.) Then I took the disk out and uploaded the pictures. Here's where my mind went loopy. Since in my mind I had used this disk for personal reasons, for that minute I thought this was my personal use disk. I put it back in my camera. And since I had just uploaded them, well, it was ok to delete. Just as I hit the delete button, I realized my mistake. But the split second was too late to cancel. Images gone, the whole session. Luckily I was reminded by a quick thinking friend (thanks, Mendy) about recovery and I remembered that my SanDisk Compact Flash came with a recovery disk. All was not lost. But the sinking feeling in my gut will hopefully serve as a reminder for next time. And hopefully my lesson will help you, too.

Oh my heart just sank for you. That is a good tip to remember. Thanks for sharing
An excellent lesson indeed. Glad that you got your shots back...and thanks for the reminder!
These turned out so nice...and happy day that you didn't lose them! I make sure I have the images saved on at least two different places before I delete. That always worries me.
You have a much better abckup system than I do - I use the same memory disk over and over again for everything! I'm glad you were able to recover everything. He is such a sweet little guy, and b&w works perfectly!
What a precious little one. Your photos are perfect.
Thank you for the lesson, and the gorgeous, gorgeous pictures. I love the color on the last one, what's your recipe?
