Beautiful

This is my new favorite picture of my girl. But, geesh, she looks old. This is My Best Shot for today. And it also goes in the pool for this month's One Word Challenge at Shutter Sisters. The word for this month is "Beautiful". Ain't she? Not only on the outside but she truly is on the inside.
Natalya and I have been wanting to learn to knit for awhile. We've talked about it and I kept saying, "OK, I'll learn first so that I an teach you." A couple of Christmases ago, I gave Natalya a learn to knit kit in hopes that we both could learn from the kit that was for children 7 and up. She was not 7 yet but I thought I could at least learn from it. I'm telling you, I looked at those instructions a million times and could not decipher them. Nothing beats real instruction I guess. In comes our ever talented friend Nicole, who by the way is a wondeful super knitter and all around craft handy person. Nicole got me started and now I'm a knittin' fool (although I told that to Nicole and she said that knitters were not fools.) Natalya and I knitted the scarf above from the kit and she loves it! And she truly loves it more because, as she says, "We made it with our own hands." As of right now I can only do the one knit stitch so all four pieces that I have going are without much pattern. But I'm having fun. Oh, and Youtube has helped me out, too. It's the person actually showing me how to do it that makes the difference.

She truely is beautiful. Her eyes in this shot are mezmerizing. Its like she is looking right through me! But I love how you two made the scarf together. That is just pure Mother/Daughter sweetness! I hope to have that with Ella when she is older too. Have fun with the OWP this month! I thought I would join in too.....and yes, how natural that we both kick it off with what is most beautiful to us! :o) Beautiful shot!
GORGEOUS!!!
This is a beautiful shot, Melody!! I love how bright her brown eyes are.
Congrats on the knitting - that's something I've always been too scared to try because it looks complicated. You guys are doing great!
I have said the same thing to my daughter (who wants to learn). I'm going to need to take a class because I need that hands-on learning.
Lovely shot~ She is a beauty and quite the model!
Happy Monday :)
"We made it with our own hands." *sniff* How beautiful...the scarf, and yes, indeed your daughter...inside and out :)
She is gorgeous! And looking so grown up -- and so much like you!
Beautiful shot of Natalya. Great scarf, too. Yes, the best way to learn is hands on instruction. I've been wanting to learn knitting but haven't taken the time yet. I've heard youtube has some great instructional videos, too.
She is so gorgeous! She looks like such a sweet, sincere soul...a peace that comes from within. I love it that you've learned to knit together - the scarf is great!
Beautiful shot! Beautiful girl!
LOVE the pink against the gray and the soft browns of her hair, eyes and background. Nice shot!
She looks like such a grown up in this photo! Wow!
Love your daughters portrait! Love the soft colors and the scarf standing out. And of course those brown eyes. Im going to try to do better and joining everyone on Best Shot Monday! I really want too! Its fun looking everyone postings. I have toddler so Monday can be crazy! Im doing 365, so there shouldn't be any excuse not to right?
This photo - and its lovely subject - definitely embodies beauty! The brown of her eyes and the fuschia of her scarf are striking.
I am a hands on learner too. She is truly beautiful.
Oh, yes she is beautiful! I love looking at your pictures. And at the moment I like looking more than doing because I have no energy to do stuff other than get through the day. Megs and I learned to knit when we moved to this cold environment but then baby came so I can only do one stitch too and have only made scarves but I think it is very fun and a cool thing to be able to do.
She's gorgeous. She has such beautiful eyes, and you're right she looks older. Getting a lot of that here too with my almost 10 year old. sigh.....
first, yes, she is beautiful.
second, it's a great shot! i love the focus/blurr of the texture in the scarf that ya'll "made with your own hands", and the catchlight in her eyes.
and third, i love to knit, and i can be a fool! (not often, mind you, but still...)
love your blog... found you through a link on another blog...
It's a beautiful shot! The pink scarf really lightens up her face and gives those wonderful brown eyes of her so much depth. Perfect for the theme for sure. I gave up on knitting and found something else instead. I too tried it and just couldn't keep things straight and if I put the project down never could figure out how to restart again. Good for you both for figuring it out!
I too am a knitting fool although I haven't had time to do much these past few years. Picture knitting, pattern knitting, cable, fairisle, you name it, I've knitted it. It's so satisfying.
Also, that picture is a knockout!! As is she.
