On the First Day of December
The countdown begins today I guess. The girls couldn't be more excited. The trees are up, shopping has begun, we listen to Christmas music ALL the time. As I look at my calendar, I try to figure out how we can possibly fit everything we want to do in the month of December into the month of December. High on that list is to visit the Alamo and the Riverwalk (it's very pretty this time of year with the Riverwalk lit up and decorated), Boerne Dickens on Main (small town Christmas fun), and we hope we can make it to Shlitterbahn Christmas (usually a water park but they are freezing some pools for ice skating. Cool.), and to make Christmas cookies. Whew, I think I'm tired already. But I really think that is what makes the holiday fun.
Today we had our always fun friends over to play while their Momma and Daddy spent a couple of hours out doing some holiday shopping. They had a blast. We just can't say enough about how lucky the girls are to have been able to have such wonderful people to grow up with. They played games, played baseball outside, did lots of arts and crafts, and watched The Grinch (the original cartoon version.)
I found these cool unpainted nutcrackers and each kiddo got one to paint. They loved them. Trevor spent so much time on his.
Natalya the artist. She wanted her's to look like a real nutcracker. She added lots of detail.
These will be My Best Shots for today. Hope that your December is starting off with a bang. A good one.

Wow! I love those unpainted nutcrackers! ... She is quite an artist... the challenge seems overwhelming, and she stepped right up.
what a great project! btw: the cartoon "grinch" is the only way to go; none of this jim carrey stuff :).
I totally can't believe it's DECEMBER either!! Those nutcrackers are too cool - and Natalya is quite the artist!
Painting nutcrackers, what a great idea. I love that you are so in to the holiday spirit. So far all I'm feeling is pressed for time to get everything done (darn that Thanksgiving being so late this year...)
What a great project. Nutcrackers are so cool. Natalya did a great job!
I love the attention to detail Natalya has. You can see it in her face. Great project for the kids.
Where did you find those? That's such a cool idea to paint those!!!
Very cool. Looks like December is off to a great start!
She did a wonderful nutcracker! Nice painting job. :) As today is my husband's birthday, we always start out December with more celebrating and from here I'm sure the month will just fly by.
THAT is a fun crafty project! Wow and she does such a great job with all of the detail, very impressive!
We are planning on going to Schiltterbahn Christmas too........Your girls are so creative and talented and I know exactly where they got it from :o) Hugs for the Holidays!!!

i am ALREADY behind... yikes... there IS a lot to fit in isn't there!
Melody, those nutcrackers rock! What a great idea. Are you going to varnish them and keep them to bring out every Christmas?? The shots are fantastic, colours pop, kids so involved. Just lovely. I too am feeling overwhelmed as December marches on. Only a week and a half of school til summer hols.
Very cool Nutcrackers! Where did you get them?
Sounds like you are going to BUSY, but the fun kind of busy. Love those nutcrackers that you found - what a great holiday project.
