Favorite Face

Well, at least one of them.

I always ask Vienne, "How come your so sweet?  How come your so cute?  How come your so funny?"  She always says, "I don't know.  Because you made me that way."  I'd like to think that I really did have something to do with it but she really does have a personality all her own.  We sharing faces on this Best Shot Monday.  Check it.

On another note, I've had no voice since last Thursday.  I'm a little hesitant to say but it really has made the house a bit quieter.  It can't really be me that creates all the noise around here, can it?  "Natalya take a bath!  Vienne, finish your dinner.  Rockey, shhh."  Either I am the catalyst unknowingly or the the girls know I can't yell and have reacted to my directions quicker.  And I find them whispering.  When I say, "Why are you whispering?", Natalya says, "Oh, because you are."  The girls had two neighbor friends over yesterday and those kids were whispering.  So, if you are yearning for peace and quiet, just stop talking.

I seriously think you are on to something here Mel! (I do hope you get your voice back, though!)
I gave up *yelling* for Lent. I know, something I really should not be doing anyhow...but calmer, more patient Momma, makes calmer, more patient kids. It is a frightening realization. I'm also getting more exercise since I walk upstairs to ask them something instead of just yelling up for them to do something. It is a win-win for all.

It's crazy how I just experienced this today too...only at school. See on Mondays we get to go to the library, and while there's some controversy about whether or not middle schoolers really need a half-hour in the library each week, it's something we do. Many weeks I'm busily "shhh-shing" my students. Today, I didn't make any fanfare or reminder about appropriate behavior. I just took my work to do and asked them to do there's. It was amazing! They were terrific! Now, if I can catch up on grading and actually enjoy a half-hour of reading myself...that'd be heaven!

Hope you're healthy soon! :)

LOL! I thought I was the only one who created the noise in the house! I'm glad I'm not alone!! I need to learn to stop talking!!

I am just so glad you came by today so I could make my way here to your beautiful blog! Love the header! Your girl is stunning- really. I am sure I make all the noise in the house- I admit this kinda flippantly and kinda embarrassed, oh well- having said that, I may play a joke on April Fools and lose my voice, just to see what happens!

Cute shot, and good advice. ;)

She is soooo adorable, but I've told you that countless times already.

What? Yelling? Me?? I really understand where you are coming from here. Perhaps I need to lose my voice, too, to become a calmer parent. ;) Hope you feel better soon.

Who knew, it's really use moms that create all the chaos!! Yeah, some days I can believe that. ;) Still, I hope you get your voice back soon. My mom gets that every winter - this time it lasted nearly two weeks!!

Oh, and N and I have the same exchange all the time...except she ends it "God just made me like that!"

What a sweet picture, Melody.......and a great story to go along with it. I definitely know the feeling - it feels like I am constantly yelling/scolding at my house in the evening when the kids get home from school/daycare. "Stop running, Leave that alone, Only color on paper". Hahah...the list goes on and on.
