If the Shoe Fits

Greg and I have to go to a black tie dinner in a few weeks.  Something for Greg's work.  We don't go to many.  In fact, I think the last one was in 2000.  We think it's fun to get all pretty but buying an outfit for a one night affair is not fun.  I'm OK with shelling out a few bucks for a great pair of jeans that I could wear everyday but not for a dress that I'll wear for one night.  So I bought a dress that's not really black tie-ish hoping that I might get to wear it during the holidays.  But I thought I could fancy it up with some shiney shoes.  These look awesome.  Shiney, silver, fringe is in.  But holy cow, the heals.  They are 4 inches high.  I don't think I could spend the evening in them.  I've tried wearing them around the house but I think they are going back.  As pretty as they are.  Vienne likes them, though.  My search continues.

Of course V. likes them! What little girl wouldn't! They do rock...but yeah, the last thing you want is to not really be able to walk after only an hour...Good luck on the hunt!

I'm with you...

Yeah, there was a time I'd sacrifice comfort for style. But not now.

Guess I'm getting old.

WOW. Love the fun shoes. Bummer they will be returned.
But if they are not comfortable- NO WAY.
Yah, easy to spend money on a Great pair of jeans that you will wear all the time.

I would still totally wear them - they are awesome! Love this shot, too. :) When I have to have a dress for a black tie affair I usually go to the formal dress clearance section at Macy's. Much cheaper.

love the shoes! they are sexy and so hip! I have heard that if you put alcohol on a cotton ball and then rub that on the inside of the shoes and then wear them (mabye even with thin socks) it can really help....just an idea I got from Rachel Ray.

I say go for it, just get a nice relaxing foot massage from hubbie later on in the evening!

Wow, those are quite some shoes! But yeah, I'm always one for comfort over style! Good luck on the hunt.

Now those are some shoes! I wish I could wear shoes like that, but I haven't been able to take almost any high heeled shoe for very long at all since I started with my foot problem and had surgery.

How fun to get to go to a black tie event!

Those are super cool shoes! But if they aren't comfortable you'll be miserable all night! Bummer because they are awesome!

Wow! Those are SOME shoes! I couldn't wear them! They are quite fun, though and V is too cute wearing them around.

Hi,

I am a newbie photographer in Michigan and I happened to come across your site. I was wondering if you could email me at suman_chaudhuri (at) hotmail (dot) com. I just bought the Nikon D90 DSLR and I am teaching myself about photography by pouring over books, videos, etc. I had a few questions after seeing your pictures and I thought I'd reach out to you here and see if you wouldn't mind responding to my email.

Please do get in touch with me if you can. I only have 1 main question to ask you.

Thanks,
Suman

I love black tie events but we go to the same one every year and it is hard to find a new 'frock' each time. One year I wore the same dress as the previous year with a ront tied thing over the top to make it look different. It's ok for the guys. They just haul out the same suit over and over. Unless you are Himself, who one year hadn't tried it on beforehand and couldn't get the pants done up on the night and had to wear BLACK JEANS uner jas coat. BWAHAHAHAHAHA. Fortunately everyone was looking at me. :-D
Nah. Seriously. You can get these gel pads that stick inside the shoe and make the wearing of high heels for a night much more bearable. Great quirky shot....

front tied thing...sorry, I'm rushing

September 12, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterarizaphale

uner jas coat???????? what was THAT? meant to be 'under HIS coat'....now I am taking more time than I took to 'rush' the comment...

In my 20's, I would have worn the most uncomfortable shoes and a form fitting (hold your stomach in for hours) dress and would have been totally fine with it. Now, in my 30's, I am all about a pair of fabulous jeans and some flip flops.

I think there is something so sexy about a woman who is comfortable, in her own skin....with or without fabulous shoes!
